How to Apply for SAMBA Fellow Status

Eligibility

• SAMBA active member for at least three consecutive years

• Attended SAMBA annual meeting at least three times within the past 5 years

• Board certification in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology or equivalent for international members

• Unrestricted medical license(s) , or equivalent for international members

• Two letters of endorsement from active SAMBA members in good standing

• Curriculum Vitae

• Must meet 6 qualifications within the past 5 years with at least 1 from each of the 2 categories listed below.

Qualifications

1. Professionalism/Leadership

• Leadership position in SAMBA, or participation in SAMBA committee(s)

• Leadership position in an ambulatory surgery center, office-based anesthesia, hospital or professional practices

2. Education/Scholarly Activities

• Active involvement in teaching or mentoring activities

• Speaker at SAMBA annual meeting or at international, national, or state Society meetings

• Research in ambulatory anesthesiology

• 3 publications (e.g., journal articles, web content, curriculum development, simulation scenarios)

• Development of educational content (print, webinars, podcasts, digital)

• Editorial board or Editor, scientific publication

Maintenance of SAMBA-Fellow Recognition Status

• SAMBA annual meeting attendance at least once every three years

• Maintenance of continuous SAMBA active or associate membership

• Active medical license

• After being awarded the SAMBA-F status, retiring members will enjoy this distinguished recognition for life without any of the above requirements for maintenance of status.

Fees

• A one-time non-refundable application processing fee of $250 (subject to change)

• SAMBA-Fellow will be recognized at the annual meeting with a certificate, custom designed lapel pin, name badge ribbon, and be listed on the SAMBA website as a SAMBA-Fellow

• Opportunity to proudly use SAMBA-F in their signature noting this recognition

• SAMBA Fellows are invited to participate in a SAMBA networking event with resident members to engage and mentor junior members

• SAMBA Fellows will have access to a select community forum within the SAMBA membership via the website
