Harvard Medical School Principal Clinical Experience Elective

The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Principal Clinical Experience (PCE) elective is a unique 4 week patient safety elective highlighting the variety of locations where ambulatory anesthesia and surgery are being performed. It was created at Mass Eye and Ear (MEE) to expose 3rd and 4th year medical students to adult and pediatric patients presenting for ambulatory surgical procedures and to understand the role of the anesthesiologist in the pre, intra, and postoperative setting in a variety of ambulatory surgical and procedural environments: the hospital, ambulatory surgicenter (ASC) and the office-based setting. The course is available to any 3rd and 4th year medical student across the USA in addition to those at Harvard.
