Speaker: Monte Goldstein, MD

Monte Jay Goldstein, M.D. is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 35 years of clinical experience.

Dr. Goldstein serves as Chief Medical Officer for The Virtual Health Joint Venture Program, overseeing clinical operations across more than 40 certified, licensed ambulatory surgical centers. He previously developed and served as medical director of a multi-specialty surgical center in Bergen County, New Jersey, where he served as Chief of Anesthesia Services for 18 years. He has also served as Chief of Anesthesiology for multiple plastic and reconstructive surgery centers and office-based surgical and procedural programs. 

Dr. Goldstein serves as Vice President of Investigations on QUAD A's executive board, a role he has held since 2019. His relationship with the organization, however, spans nearly two decades. Since 2007, he has served as a QUAD A Outpatient Surgical and Procedural facility surveyor and a Medicare ASC surveyor, and he is also a surveyor for the Pediatric Dental and Oral and Maxillofacial Programs. He is an educator within QUAD A's surveyor training programs and has served on the Standards Committee since 2015. He currently chairs the Investigative Committee.

Dr. Goldstein earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and completed his anesthesia residency at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center. He holds fellowship training in both cardiac and obstetrical anesthesia. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is a member of the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgical Centers (NJAASC), the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA).

Moderator: Jamey Eklund, MD

Dr. Jamey Eklund is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist at Children's Wisconsin and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, bringing over 15 years of dedicated clinical experience to the field.

An active and dedicated member of SAMBA, Dr. Eklund serves on both the Education and Pediatric Committees. She is also board-certified in obesity medicine and notably co-authored the recent SAMBA "Perioperative Considerations for Obese Pediatric Patients in the Ambulatory Setting: Guidance From the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia."

Beyond her work with SAMBA, she is highly active in the Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists, where she serves as an alternate delegate for both the ASA and WMS.

Dr. Eklund completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and her pediatric fellowship at Children’s Memorial in Chicago. Following her training, she proudly served four years on active duty with the U.S. Navy at Walter Reed Bethesda.
