Course Description:

This session will provide the necessary framework for facility leaders to build and manage a successful Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program (QAPI). The presentation focuses on how QAPI programs can be used as a strategic tool to drive patient safety, operational performance, and long-term success. Attendees will learn how to create a QAPI program that supports their unique needs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify essential components needed to develop and implement a QAPI program that is tailored to facility needs.
  2. Evaluate facility quality and performance metrics to select performance improvement outcomes that align with facility goals.
  3. Design follow-up activities to support ongoing improvement and continuous monitoring.

Speaker: Brett Maxfield, MS, CRNA 

Brett Maxfield is the Director of Anesthesia and Surgical Services for Madison Avenue Surgery Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho and the President and CEO of Maxfield Healthcare Solutions, an international surgical consulting firm based in Southeastern Idaho.  He is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho, and the University of Michigan-Flint Anesthesia Program, and has been a CRNA since 2009. He is an owner in a multi-specialty surgical center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, an international surveyor and member of the board of directors for Quad A, and a guest reviewer and speaker for Becker’s Healthcare Review. He also enjoys teaching and currently lectures independently and for Twin Oaks Anesthesia Seminars. Mr. Maxfield is currently the President of the Idaho Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, the chair of the AANA practice committee, and a panel member of the AANA Reimbursement Technical Advisory Panel.

Moderator: Chhaya Patel, MD, SAMBA-F

Dr. Chhaya Patel is an associate professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatric at Emory University School of Medicine. She has served as the Medical Director of Satellite Blvd., Surgery Center. She is also the Vice Chair of the Pediatrics Committee and Education Committee for SAMBA.
