Steven Young

I am an anesthesiologist specializing in acute pain and regional anesthesia at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). I frequently teach residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists. I direct a Harvard Medical School 4th-year medical student elective in Ambulatory Anesthesia that spans MEE, BWH, and Massachusetts General Hospital. I served as the Associate Medical Director of MEEI’s Medical Evaluation Center before becoming the MEEI Medical Director for Ambulatory Anesthesia. Additionally, I lead educational efforts to enhance peribulbar block training for new attendings, rotating residents and fellows. Beyond the hospital, I actively engage in state medical advocacy, and currently serve as President of the Suffolk District of the MMS for the 2026–2028 term. I write on ambulatory and office-based anesthesia safety and have spoken globally on this. I co-edited a 2026 volume for Anesthesiology Clinics on ambulatory anesthesia with Dr Brian Osman. Currently, I am co-leading an IRB-approved research project evaluating remimazolam sedation for cataract patients at MEE.
