The
20th Annual Meeting of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia is a unique
opportunity to hear prominent physicians from a wide range of practices
discuss current issues in ambulatory anesthesia. The meeting agenda includes
both administrative and medical issues, and was tailored to meet needs
identified by the SAMBA membership in meeting evaluations and membership
surveys. We have tried to provide a program relevant to individuals in
a variety of practice modalities, as well as specific sessions for residents.
Although SAMBA is celebrating its 20th annual meeting, issues in ambulatory
anesthesia continue to challenge the practitioner. Ambulatory cases have
become a common component of most anesthetic practices, but there are
specialized logistic and patient care requirements. We have tried to include
updates on issues of ongoing relevance, as well as new information and
techniques. The ever-popular “Cases From the Real World” will
challenge the panel and audience alike. Last year's preconvention workshop
on perioperative medicine was extremely well received, leading us to include
that format this year but with updated topics. The regional anesthesia
workshop will feature a recorded video presentation followed by small
breakout sessions with models. New workshops include a workshop on ultrasound
for regional anesthesia and vascular access, and a workshop designed to
update the anesthesiologist on the newer anesthesia ventilators. The popular
clinical forum will focus on issues in office-based anesthesia and we
have included an advanced administrative workshop targeting those who
function in the role of medical director. The fabulous Camelback Inn is
our venue and the property has been completely renovated since our last
visit there. Allow some additional time to enjoy the area before or after
the meeting. The social event “A Night Beneath the Arizona Sky”
on Camelback’s picturesque North Garden, will feature an elegant
Southwestern theme and allows time for relaxation as well as interaction
with old friends and new colleagues.
We look forward to seeing you in Scottsdale!
