NEWS FOR PATIENTS - TOP

Are there any reasons why I should have spinal anesthesia rather than general anesthesia for a c-section?I had a spinal for my first section and I experienced some unpleasant side effects: major shaking during the procedure; extended time in the recovery room waiting for the block to wear off; severe swelling for several weeks afterward[about 15 lbs worth]; continued back pain and muscle spasms 15 months later. I have had general anesthesia 3 times in the past with no complications.

To find out the answer to this question, go to our Patient Information Page on the SAMBA Web site. Our Patient Information Page includes a large variety of frequently asked questions about ambulatory anesthesia, with replies written especially for patients. On this page, patients can also ask their own questions.
