The SAMBA Committee on Office-Based Anesthesia is conducting a Web-based survey to gauge the scope of practice in this fluid environment and to determine the needs of office anesthesia practitioners. The results of the survey will be used by the Board of Directors to help the Society target products and services to this segment of SAMBA’s growing membership. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION NOW AVAILABLE ON-LINE - TOP

Submission of abstracts for presentation at the SAMBA 20th Annual Meeting in May 2005 is now available through the SAMBA Web site. Abstracts presented at the SAMBA Annual Meeting are eligible for presentation at subsequent meetings of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the International Anesthesia Research Society. A limited number of Resident Travel Awards will be presented to anesthesiology residents whose scientific abstracts are accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting.
Only abstracts submitted electronically will be considered for grading. The deadline to submit abstracts is February 15, 2005.
SAMBA CURRICULUM GUIDELINES - TOP

The SAMBA Committee on Education has completed developing the curriculum guidelines for medical student and anesthesia resident rotations in ambulatory anesthesia, as well as fellowships in ambulatory anesthesia. These guidelines are now available here.

INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON AMBULATORY SURGERY - TOP

The International Association for Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS) has issued a call for abstracts for the 6th International Congress on Ambulatory Surgery to be held April 24-27, 2005, in Seville, Spain. The
Congress will bring together ambulatory surgery professionals from around the world for more than three days of educational sessions and networking.
The abstracts are intended to stimulate discussion and further research in the field of ambulatory surgery and anesthesia, and are separate from lecture presentations. Abstracts will be submitted to the following categories:
- Anesthesia Techniques and Clinical Practice Management
- Nursing issues
- Patient Safety and Quality Improvement
- Organization and management
- Surgical Techniques and Clinical Practice Management
All abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts and may be selected for oral, poster or video presentation, or may be rejected. The deadline for abstract submission is January 31, 2005.
