CALL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD NOMINATIONS - TOP

The Committee on Awards is seeking nominations for the SAMBA 2005 Distinguished Service Award.  The Award will be presented during the SAMBA 20th Annual Meeting to be held May 12-15, 2005, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This prestigious award, which represents the highest honor SAMBA can bestow upon an individual, is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement in ambulatory anesthesia.  Past Distinguished Service Award recipients are:

1994   Marie-Louise Levy, M.D., Chevy Chase, Maryland
1995   Bernard V. Wetchler, M.D., Chicago, Illinois
1996   Stanley Bresticker, M.D., Somerset, New Jersey
1997   Harry C. Wong, M.D., Salt Lake City, Utah
1998   Burton S. Epstein, M.D., Bethesda, Maryland
1999   Surinder K. Kallar, M.B., Richmond, Virginia
2000   Wallace A. Reed, M.D., Phoenix, Arizona
2001   Paul F. White, M.D., Dallas, Texas
2002   Herbert D. Weintraub, M.D., Bethesda, Maryland
2003   Raafat S. Hannallah, M.D., Washington, D.C.
2004   Beverly K. Philip, M.D., Boston, Massachusetts

Nominations must include a cover letter, a copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae and no more than four letters of support of the nomination.  Nominations must be received at the SAMBA office by no later than August 16, 2004.

AUSTRALIAN DAY SURGICAL CONFERENCE - TOP

The 6th Australian Day Surgery Conference will be held in Sydney, Australia, on September 17-18, 2004. The theme will be "Controversies and Emergencies in Day Surgery". This event is a multi-disciplinary conference, suited to all involved in Day Surgery: Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Managers and Nurses. The meeting immediately precedes the Australian Society of Anaesthetists Conference at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

2004 ANNUAL MEETING - TOP

It's not too late to register for the 17th Annual Meeting of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, to be held in Seattle, Washington, from April 29 to May 2, 2004. An excellent program has been planned which should be of much interest to everyone involved in the field of ambulatory anesthesia.

An exciting social program has also been arranged, with the highlight being the Saturday Social Evening at the Seattle Space Needle. Participation in the event is included in the registration fee, and additional spouse, adult, and children’s tickets may be purchased.
