SAMBA 32nd Annual Meeting Recap:

Thank you to all of our attendees for making the 2017 Annual Meeting held in Arizona between May 4-6th our best one yet! This year we celebrated Ambulatory Anesthesiology with high-end education and networking events. In case you missed this year’s meeting, we have included some highlights and photos below!


This year’s Annual Meeting included a number of exciting and innovative sessions, including panel discussions on healthcare reform and NORA, general sessions on ERAS and regional anesthesia, and small breakout sessions focusing on real-world cases and common problems and challenges in ambulatory anesthesia in adults and pediatric patients.

Attendees also had the opportunity to browse more than 40 original research and case study abstracts at the SAMBA 32nd Annual Meeting on a variety of topics. To view the Abstract Award Winners and poster presentations, please visit the SAMBA website here.

Thank you to all of our sponsors! We had an exciting exhibit hall with 20 exhibitors and a welcome reception to boost networking and discovering new products in anesthesia technology. Throughout the meeting, there were focused sponsored luncheons from sponsors Legally Mine, Inc., and Trevena, and an afternoon hands-on workshop by NYSORA. Each speaker shared their expertise to attendees on a range of topics including hands-on workshop for ultrasound-guided infiltration techniques, therapeutic advances in post-operative pain management, and practices to prevent lawsuits. The SAMBA Business Meeting and Awards Luncheon: 

Saturday, May 6 was packed with interesting presentations and society developments. The event started with the Excellence and Innovation Award Presentations (more info on the winners can be found here), included a member vote on the updated bylaws , the official approval of the slate of the new 2017-2018 SAMBA Board of Directors (link to article on new list of full Board of Directors) and concluded with the presentation of award certificates to the Resident Travel Award Winners, White Mountain Award Winners, and Excellence and Innovation Award Winners.

Social Event:

Thank you, to everyone, that attended the SAMBA 32nd Annual Meeting Social Event after a day of lectures, discussions, and workshops on Saturday, May 6! Guests enjoyed an evening of delicious food, drinks, and exciting games on the beautiful North Lawn of the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. Highlights from the evening included a visit from Corona the Beer Burro, lots of fun and drama with the giant Jenga set, delicious food options like ceviche shots, braised ribs, and a taco bar, and excellent companionship and camaraderie in a beautiful setting.

  • If you have accessed the ASA Education Center for a previous meeting, please use your existing ASA username and password.
  • If you have not previously accessed the ASA Education Center, select “Forgot Password” to be sent a password, then login with your email address and password.

2. Once you have logged on to the ASA Education Center homepage, click the tab that says “MY LEARNING” and select “MY ENROLLMENTS” to view the link to the 2017 SAMBA Annual Meeting.
